Beginning just after the bloody Sioux victory over General Custer at Little Big Horn, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee intertwines the perspectives of three characters: Charles Eastman (Beach), né Ohiyesa, a young, Dartmouth-educated, Sioux doctor held up as living proof of the alleged success of assimilation; Sitting Bull (Schellenberg), the proud Lakota chief who refuses to submit to U.S. government policies designed to strip his people of their identity, their dignity and their sacred land – the gold-laden Black Hills of the Dakotas; and Senator Henry Dawes (Quinn), who was one of the architects of the government policy on Indian affairs. While Eastman and patrician schoolteacher Elaine Goodale (Paquin) work to improve life for the Indians on the reservation, Senator Dawes lobbies President Grant (Thompson) for more humane treatment, opposing the bellicose stance of General William Tecumseh Sherman (Feore). Hope rises for the Indians in the form of the prophet Wovoka (Studi) and the Ghost Dance – a messianic movement that promises an end of their suffering under the white man. This hope is obliterated after the assassination of Sitting Bull and the massacre of hundreds of Indian men, women and children by the 7th Cavalry at Wounded Knee Creek on Dec. 29, 1890. 典型的HBO电视电影，凝重忧伤。
HBO的电视电影，还是有一定水准的，有几张熟面孔，可惜我对历史很陌生
“长发”发疯害死那么多人，另外 没想到谢里登叫熊皮。。
把一个好题材拍成了这样·····唉
一部电视电影，不怎么好看一般，我没耐心看完
看了这个以及darfur，我越来越觉得，所谓对与错是在权力与金钱对等的基础上才可以探讨的东西，在对比悬殊的双方，只有做与不做，杀与不杀。
一本好书，却不是好电影
这段历史理应被铭记，却不该被胜利者美化。“是他们先开枪的”白人始终还是披着虚伪的外衣
即使这部正经的历史纪录片兼人文片儿被HBO弄的有点儿小家子气，但我相信这对于影片本身的评价来说也基本是无足轻重的。
“文明”之殇，历史之痛。敢于正视，就有希望。

不错的电视电影 十分细腻不粗糙 很有史诗大片的感觉 角色内心可以再深入挖掘一下
一部悲凉的电影，即便是无比恢弘的战争场面也只能让人感到丝丝凉意。SittingBull的经历总让人不经意间想起末代皇帝溥仪，只是这个昔日的酋长还算得上是一个英雄，他在最后关头的挣扎终究还是展现出CrazyHorse身上Sioux的血性。同化是人类发展的趋势之一，而这种趋势的结果却往往是斗争与停滞。
震撼！
剧情很细腻，不刻意以大场面、大感情煽动情绪，容易使人认为这是一部客观的史诗电影。不过，艺术化的历史叙述总是倾向于落后文明或者说弱者。先进文明或者说强者的形象刻画总是有点单一。
